ABOUT REMOTE SHOOTING
Streaming technology has been around for some time, but ever since the recent lockdowns around the world. The audiovisual industry has had to adapt in order to efficiently and safely execute location shoots to the standards that their clients expect. For this reason, Sonimac created Remote Shooting, a company that was there from the beginning, developing innovative ways to use the streaming technology available and developing additional tools to give content producers everything they need to complete their projects. We understand that not all productions are the same, but with the success of this method of distance working, we now know that it’s here to stay. It saves time and money, you can remotely scout locations, do castings, wardrobe fittings, prep meetings, all without any of the travel and logistics that are usually required. And on production day you can view the camera monitor, view the entire set and its surroundings, full behind the scenes view of the work being done and have customizable communications with everybody from crew to clients across de world.
"Another revolutionary aspect was that this remote process allowed us to openly broadcast the filming to brands, agencies and producers around the world", Jacobo Saiz, Executive Producer of Kiss & Ride.
The Canary Islands offers many natural and urban locations and has been one of the most popular locations to shoot advertising and even Hollywood films in the past few years thanks to its year around perfect weather and tax incentives. Some locations offer fiber optic high speed internet while other are so remote that cellular and satellite technology along with hi tech antennas are needed to achieve a stable connection. We have successfully worked on these challenges and continue to improve our methods and technology to provide the reliable service our clients have come to expect.
NOT JUST A MONITOR
Some remote shooting services are limited to the viewing of the camera monitor and using video conferencing services to communicate between the crew on the set and remote clients. This is often because of bandwidth limitations, but our system was design from the ground up to handle multiple streams of video, giving you the ability not only to have the point of view of the onset camera, but of all the surroundings. This allows the creative process to continue even on the of shooting. The director might feel that a certain angle and background would better fit the scene, he can explore the set and then share his ideas through our multiple collaboration tools.
REDUNDANCY
Not all locations offer ideal conditions to stream video, for this reason our systems are design to compensate when signal may be weak or intermittent. On remote locations a combination of technologies ensures a steady stream, this is achieved by satellite connection and cellular 4G &5G systems with up to 6 or more cards working simultaneously. This robust connection is paired with our own video platform and other tried and true professional video chat and streaming services to ensure uptime throughout the whole event.
EXPERIENCE
Sonimac has been providing solutions to the Canarias market for well over 15 years, working on productions of all sizes and complexity. This knowhow allows us to trouble shoot any unexpected issues than may arise, adapt to changing conditions and to satisfy any requests our clients may have on set. We often foresee possible issues and address then accordingly, because we believe our presence should almost be imperceptive to our clients, allowing them to focus on the creative process and not be distracted but technical glitches.
